Resting Metabolic Rate Test (RMR)
Your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) is the minimum number of calories
your body needs to support its basic physiological functions, including
breathing, circulating blood and all of the numerous biochemical reactions
required to keep you alive. Your RMR is generally 60-80% of your total
daily caloric expenditure.
Knowing the minimum number of calories your body needs is important if
you're trying to lose, gain or maintain your current weight.
Resting Metabolic Rate is the amount of calories you would burn if you
continued to sit in a chair all day, doing nothing at all.
- Things That Affect Your Metabolic Rate:
- Muscle - More muscle increases your RMR.

exercise. The EMR test reveals your body’s unique response to physical
activity at different levels of intensity. By measuring the volume of oxygen
your body takes in and utilizes (VO2), the volume of carbon dioxide exhaled
(VCO2) and your heart rate we can determine how many calories you burn
per minute while exercising and how many of those calories are drawn from
fat versus carbohydrates and MOST importantly, how aerobically efficient
you are at different levels of exercise intensity.
